In honour of this holy day and to celebrate stretching out our bellies before we all go without our favourite treats for 40 days (or as long as we can muster) – we’ve put together a list of our favourite pancake recipes.

1. Chunky Monkey Pancakes from One Sweet Appetite.
Loaded with chocolatey goodness – the classic banana/chocolate combo never fails. Not one for those watching their waistlines, but if ever there’s a day not to – it’s PANCAKE DAY!
Carrot cake + pancake = breakfast heaven. Not as heavy or sweet as cake, with a thin glaze and light fluffy texture – we can’t wait to try these!
Originally a St Paddy’s Day recipe, this minty, chocolatey recipe will soon be a firm favourite in your household. We love the serving suggestion – serve as a pudding with ice cream and hot fudge sauce… Yum!
One of the world’s favourite cupcake recipes now in a delicious pancake! A deliciously decadent recipe perfect to serve up to impress friends and family.
Follow these wonderful instructions carefully and you’ll end up with the most scrumptious treat. We love the natural sweetness of the cinnamon combined with the tangy cream cheese drizzle and crispy burnt sugar tops. Texture and taste galore!
Please note – Apple cider is just fizzy apple juice in the USA, so use Appletiser or something similar – not Strongbow!
The bubbles make this recipe deliciously light and fluffy and who doesn’t love doughnuts!? Finger-licking good!
7. Whole Wheat & Greek Yoghurt Pancakes from How Sweet Eats.
For those seeking a healthier alternative – these may not be as thick and fluffy as regular pancakes but they are creamy and delightfully dense. Chop up some fruit, drizzle with honey and have yourself a natural, healthy, nutrient-packed pancake day!
8. Classic Crêpes Suzette by Delia Smith for BBC Food.
For those who firmly believe a pancake should be thin – here is the Crêpe Suzette. And who would we trust more to offer up the best recipe for this French classic other than Delia? Perfection.
9. Pancake… CAKE by Jamie Oliver
A cake… That’s built from pancakes, cream AND chocolate. Hand us the frying pan now! We love the theatre of this cake but also how simple it is (oven-free!) and how easy it’d be to adapt to add our favourite ingredients. Certainly a show-stopper.
10. To finish… Savoury Buckwheat Crêpes from Rachel Cooks.
We do have a sweet tooth here, but he had to include a savoury recipe – and this is one of the best. Fill with your favourites for an easy, quick, delicious dinner.
And to help you bake up a storm – what better than some of our gorgeous Cath Kidston kitchen accessories?
